What happens if Alice takes a magic trip inside a conic arrangement of mirrors?

Puzzled? Wait until you see Alice's cubes and icosahedrons! We will see how many triangles make up a cube or a dodecahedron using 3D-kaleidoscopes. We will look at reflections and rotations in the three dimensional space.

Royal Institution (Ri)

Dr Sara Santos is Clothworkers' Fellow in Mathematics at the Royal Institution of Great Britain (Ri) and is responsible for coordinating the UK-wide network of secondary Ri mathematics masterclasses. Sara not only has worked with artists to develop new masterclasses in design and mathematics, but also teachers in taking exciting ideas into the new classroom. Sara has taught adults and children and did research on Dynamical Systems (and Christmas wrapping!)at the University of Manchester.
